Miami WR has Tigers in Top 5

Aldarious Johnson is a big receiver out of Miami who racked up big numbers last season as a junior.

Aldarius Johnson (6-3, 205, 4.45) pulled down 73 passes for 1,365 yards and 19 touchdowns for Northwestern last season which were some of the best numbers posted by any wide out in the Sunshine State.

"I think I'm a good receiver because I run good routes and make good, quick brakes on my routes," said Johnson. "I'm looking for a school with a good community, a solid program and a system that I can fit into well. I don't really have a problem with leaving Florida as long as I can find those things."

So far, the 4-star wide out has received seven offers from Miami, Florida State, LSU, Alabama, North Carolina, Southern California and Florida.

"Right now my top five teams are Florida, Miami, Florida State, LSU and USC," he said. "I like those schools because they play big receivers and pass the ball a lot."

Johnson said that LSU coaches came to visit him during his spring game and that wide receivers coach D.J. McCarthy is recruiting him for the Tigers.

"Coach Mac has been staying in touch with me as much as he can and he seems like a cool guy," Johnson said. "He tells me how they use their receivers and based on what I've seen from them over the years I like them because they spread the ball around a lot and give all of their receivers a chance to get involved in the offense."

Johnson said that growing up he was a Hurricanes fan for a couple of reasons. One was because they were the hometown team but outside of that he sees a lot of those same qualities in LSU.

"They (Miami) had a lot of good players and I just like the way they played," said Johnson. "They also put a lot of players in the NFL. I like how LSU did that this past draft and obviously they have a lot of good players too. It means a lot to me as a recruit to see a school like LSU have two receivers drafted in the first round because that could be me in the next three years."

Note** This summer, Johnson said he has plans to attend camps at Florida State, Miami, LSU and Florida. He said he is a B student and that he plans to take the ACT this summer for the first time.
