Thomas Likes the Tigers

Chase Thomas may be playing defensive end but he has the speed to help a team at outside linebacker.

The 6-4, 200-pounder runs a 4.68 (40) and last season he recorded 83 tackles, 10 sacks and 17 tackles for a loss.

The Marietta (Ga.) Walton product has assembled quite an impressive list of offers to date but says a certain group of schools are at the top of his list.

"Right now, my top schools are LSU, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Stanford and Florida," he said. "I think they are all close enough to home, which is good for my family, and they are all top programs. They have good academics and I enjoy talking with the coaches."

Thomas said it's his relationship with LSU linebackers coach Bradley Dale Peveto that has helped boost LSU into his list of top teams.

"Coach Peveto came down to visit during my spring game," said Thomas. "He says he likes my explosiveness off the line and my ability to get to the quarterback. He said he likes my natural instinct and physicality."

Growing up in SEC country, Thomas is well aware of the tradition at LSU and the job that Les Miles has done since he came over from Oklahoma State.

"LSU is a top program and they always have been," explained Thomas. "Coach Miles has done a great job over there. Hopefully I'll be able to make it down there this summer."

Thomas said he didn't know for sure if he would make it, but said he most likely will take an official visit this fall.

"I'm going to be pretty busy this summer with all my football workouts so I don't know how the schedule is going to work out," said Thomas. "I visited Auburn last week and it was pretty nice. I have plans to visit Georgia Tech later in the summer."

Note** Thomas already has a qualifying GPA (3.7) and SAT score (1100).
