Beachum Plans to Visit

Brandon Beachum is one of Ohio's top linebackers and one of the top prospects at his position on LSU's recruiting board.

The 6-0, 220-pound Beachum also starts at running back for Cardinal Mooney in Youngstown, Ohio, but said he doesn't have a preference.

So far, he has received 26 offers but has narrowed his selection to a handful.

"The teams I like right now are Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Nebraska and West Virginia," said Beachum. "All of them have great academics and for me that comes first and foremost. The two schools I like the most right now would probably be West Virginia and Nebraska because both have great business schools and that' why I like them."

Beachum said he has a good relationship with LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini and the two have quite a bit in common.

"He has brothers and friends who still live up here so he's in town a lot," said Beachum. "I'm a real big fan of him and we know each other real well. LSU is one of the schools recruiting me for both sides but coach Pelini wants me on his side of the ball."

Beachum recently attended a camp at Michigan where he got to show off his skills at running back.

"I went to Michigan five days ago, then I'm going to Ohio State, the Penn State next Saturday and I'll visit Florida State some time in July," said Beachum. "At the Michigan camp I felt like I did pretty well. They worked me mostly at running back. They said he'd take a look at my film and keep an eye on me."

Is there a trip to Baton Rouge on his agenda?

"I want be able to make it this summer but I do plan on taking an official visit during the season," Beachum said. "I want to see everything they have to offer but I really want to see a game and the whole atmosphere so I can really experience LSU.

"LSU has a great football program and they are at the top and will stay there for a while. I think it would be a great place to play but before I really know that I need to see it first."
