TIGER RAG'S TOP 25: Teams 25-20

As USA Today unveiled its preseason Coaches Poll this morning, Tiger Rag now presents "our" College Football preseason Top 25. Today, we annouce teams ranked 25-20.

20. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

2006 Record: 11-2, 5-2 Big East

Was last year a fluke? It's not likely, but ranking Rutgers near the top 10 might be a bit premature. Greg Schiano's team was the toast of college football in 2006. Can Ray Rice help lead the Knights back to the postseason?

21. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

2006 Record: 11-3, 6-2 ACC

Jim Grobe completed an impressive turnaround at Wake last season leading the Deacons to the ACC crown. Can prosperity continue? With 15 starters back, including eight on offense led by quarterback Riley Skinner, it looks like it.

22. Hawaii Warriors

2006 Record: 11-3, 7-1 WAC

Hawaii's Colt Brennen put together a record setting season last year, led the Warriors to an 11-win season and is a preseason candidate for the Heisman Trophy. With Boise State rebuilding, can Hawaii now win the WAC title?

23. Florida State Seminoles

2006 Record: 7-6, 3-5 ACC

Florida State has spent the last few seasons sliding off the college football landscape. Last season's 7-6 record led to Bobby Bowden shaking things up in Tallahassee. Is new OC Jimbo Fisher the answer to the Noles' prayers?

24. Nebraska Cornhuskers

2006 Record: 9-5, 6-2 Big XII

Bill Callahan has slowly but surely brought Nebraska back to the upper echelon of the Big XII, but there is still a gap between the Huskers and the conference elite. Does the arrival of quarterback Sam Keller change that?

25. Boston College Golden Eagles

2006 Record: 10-3, 5-3 ACC

Coach Tom O'Brien may be gone, but the Golden Eagles have 18 starters back, including nine on defense, from a team that won 10 games last year. The schedule is tough, but expect BC to be in the upper third of the ACC.

Five that just missed:

Georgia Tech, Iowa, Missouri, Arizona State, South Florida
