Jefferson Denies A Leader

Florida might not have any bean stalks, but it sure has a giant and his name is D.C Jefferson (6-6, 241, 4.91). The big signal caller overshadows everyone on his Winter Haven High School football team.

D.C. Jefferson Profile

Last season while playing quarterback he resembled a young Daunte Culpepper. The 4-star Florida product threw for 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Jefferson has received just 5 offers (LSU, Rutgers, Auburn, Tennessee, and Central Florida) so far, but once he gets his test scores straight he is confident more will follow.

The nation's 9th rated quarterback recently spoke with about the schools who have offered and if indeed Rutgers is the leader as some reported.

"Someone asked me to name some schools that I liked so I named the ones that offered," Jefferson informed. "Only 5 offered so far, so those were the ones I named. I never said anything about having a favorite."

Does any school stand out more than another?

"Not really," he answered. "Right now I like them all about the same. I feel they are all good schools with good football programs."

Getting to the NFL is Jefferson's ultimate goal so does he feel that playing in the SEC would give him a better shot at the league than maybe playing in another conference?

"I think that may be true," said Jefferson. "Some people may think more of me if I played in the SEC, but that really doesn't matter to me. I am just trying to go somewhere that I'll have the opportunity to play."

What are his chances at getting some playing time at the schools that offered?

"I talked to coach [Earl] Lane and coach [Les] Miles at LSU," Jefferson explained. "Right now I think they have like two main quarterbacks, a walk-on and another guy that is injured. They say that I'll have a great opportunity over there.

"Rutgers is also another place that the quarterback position might present an opportunity for some playing time. Either way though, I know I am going to have to compete no matter where I decide to go."

Has Jefferson set any dates for official visits or even a decision?

"I think I am going to wait until my season is over before I make a commitment to anyone," Jefferson explained. "I might make some official visits during my season too, but I am not sure yet."
