Walker Talks About Season & Visits

Christchurch (Va.) product Deion Walker (6'3, 185, 4.45) has been giving his soon to be college decision a lot of thought. Scout.com's five-star wide receiver says he is excited about the next few months.

Deion Walker Profile

"We start fall practice on August 20th," Walker stated. "I put in a lot of work over the summer so I can't wait for the season to start. I think my team has a good chance at winning a bunch of games this season."

Last year, Walker took in 47 receptions for 732 yards and 8 touchdowns. Then while playing on the other side of the ball, he recorded 31 tackles and eight interceptions.

His amazing play on the field elevated Walker to becoming one of the most sought after 2008 recruits in the country. His list of offers is as long as the Mississippi River.

Walker did manage to tell TigerRag.com a little about some of them.

"I really do not have a favorites list, but I know I like LSU a lot," Walker explained. "When I visited LSU, I didn't really get the chance to speak to any of the LSU players because they were tired from working out, but I did notice how they seemed to be a tight nit group. Having that family type atmosphere is something I am definitely looking for in a school.

"I would place my visit to LSU up there with my other two top visits (Penn St. and Florida St.)," Walker stated.

What else is Walker looking for in a school?

"As for as football goes, most of the schools I am considering speak for themselves on the football field," he explained. "I mean they all have good football programs. However, I am paying close attention to the competition on the team itself and the direction the program is going."

Aside from football, is there anything else that Walker wants to see in a school?

"Yeah I am looking at the environment on campus as well as the amount of academic prestige the school possesses," he answered. "Once I enroll in college, I plan on majoring in business or Actuary Science/Risk Analysis."

Before that big announcement however, Walker plans on making a few visits to his undisclosed top teams.

"As of now I only have one official visit set up and that is with Penn St," Walker informed. "I know I'll be making more than one official visit though and LSU will probably be one of them."

Anything Walker wants to see on his official visits?

"Yeah I'll be looking at the quarterback play and who the quarterback of the future will be because you need someone that can get you the ball," Walker stated. "I also want to see if the offense is a receiver happy offense because I want to play for a team that wants to get me the ball."

So when is the big decision going to take place again?

"I'll make my announcement in October for sure," Walker replied. "I think I'll know who that top team is after I make my official visits."

Note: Walker maintained a 3.4 GPA last school year as well as a 20 on the ACT.
