McGee Has Tigers in Top 3

LSU is looking for its next dominant defensive tackle to keep the tradition going strong and the Nation's 14th ranked tackle has a close eye on the Tigers.

TigerRag.com recently caught up with Scout.com's 4-star defensive tackle from Oklahoma, Stacey McGee (6'4, 255, 4.9) and he broke down his expectations for his upcoming senior season as well as his current status with the recruiting trail.

"We started school last Wednesday and tomorrow night we have a scrimmage mixed in with a festival," McGee stated. "I'm more than excited because I've been waiting for the season to start. I'm ready to get things going.

"I think my team has a good shot and winning the title this year. We have a young team, but I think after they play in a few games and get use to being on the field, I think we'll be dominant the rest of the year."

McGee said he doesn't have an outright favorite, but did provide us with is Top 3.

"I would definitely put LSU in my top 3 along with Oklahoma and Florida," McGee said. "LSU has a good program and they are known for putting defensive linemen in the league. I like Oklahoma because it is close to home and they have a good football program as well. And, Florida is just a school that everybody wants to go to."

McGee said the school he chooses will be chosen for football as well as matters off of the field.

"I'm not sure what I am going to major in," he said. "However, I do know I'll be looking at the degree programs each school offers and that will play a major role in my decision all by itself."

The Muskogee High School product said he will not be making a decision until he makes a few visits.

"I haven't made up my mind yet as to where I want to take my official visits, but I do know I will be taking a few before I make my announcement. LSU is a school I definitely want to check out to see a game and get a feel for the atmosphere.

"I should be willing to give a team my commitment sometime after my season is over, but before signing day. As far as moving away goes, I think I could handle it. My family will support me in any decision I make, so it will ultimately come down to what I want to do."

McGee has qualities that separate him from the rest of the pack.

"There are three things that set me apart from the rest of the defensive linemen in the country," he explained. "They are my speed, my power, and my mental toughness. I play with a sense of urgency because I know I can't slow down. When I'm on the field I am really good at reading the offense. It is hard to explain, but everything just clicks for me."
