Steltz, Flynn absent on Tuesday

After Saturday's 48-7 thrashing of Virginia Tech, the Tigers were back on the practice field Tuesday preparing for their next game against Middle Tennessee State.

By now everyone has heard about Matt Flynn's injured ankle from Saturday's game. Flynn was absent from today's practice, which was surprising to me as I thought it he would at least be out observing practice and working with the other quarterbacks if he wasn't going to participate. The only other player I noticed missing from practice was Craig Steltz. I haven't seen any reports of Steltz being injured Saturday so his absence is a bit of a mystery.

The following players earned Tiger Club honors for their performances in Saturday's game:

Tyson Jackson, Glen Dorsey, Pep Levingston, Charles Alexander, Kirston Pittman, Rahim Alem, Marlon Favorite, Carnell Stewart, Ciron Black, Jarvis Jones, Herman Johnson, Ryan Miller, Joseph Barksdale, Lyle Hitt, Robert Smith, Brett Helms, Trindon Holliday, Demetrius Byrd, Chris Mitchell, RJ Jackson, Terrance Toliver, Brandon Lafell, Jared Mitchell, JD Lott, Richard Dickson, Mit Cole, Darry Beckwith, Ali Highsmith, Perry Riley, Kelvin Sheppard, Jeremy Benton, Harry Coleman, Chris Hawkins, Chevis Jackson, Jonathan Zenon, Danny McCray, Curtis Taylor, Keiland Williams, Charles Scott, Richard Murphy, Jacob Hester, Quinn Johnson, Ryan Perrilloux

Derrick Odom was back at practice today full dressed and participating in drills.

In Matt Flynn's absence Ryan Perrilloux took all of the snaps with the first team in today's practice.

Danny McCray was practicing in Craig Steltz's place during the defensive back's nickel drills. With McCray at safety, Chad Jones was playing nickel.

There were scouts from the New York Giants and New England Patriots at today's practice.
