Still Thinking About LSU

The old saying is, "he's like a freight train coming out of the backfield". In this case, Michael Abernathy (5'11, 215, 4.4) really is.

Michael Abernathy Profile

Through his junior season for Russellville High School, the power back has rushed for 3,147 with 36 touchdowns and also caught 166 passes for 1,934 yards and 24 touchdowns.

According to Abernathy, the story is still pretty much the same this season.

"We've played two games so far this season," Abernathy said. "In game one, I had 25 carries for 218 yards and 3 touchdowns. In game two, I had 12 carries for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns. It would've been 3 touchdowns, but one was called back due to a penalty."

Scout.Com's #2 ranked fullback was able to watch his top team perform a couple of weeks ago.

"I wasn't able to watch the LSU/ Virginia Tech game, but I did see the LSU vs. Mississippi State game," Abernathy said. "LSU looked alright in the Mississippi State game. I knew they'd win that one and I wasn't surprised they beat Virginia Tech either. LSU has a really good team. I mean they are in the running for the National Championship."

The talented back said LSU is still one of his top teams, but after thinking things over a little more he is not ready to choose a school like he stated a couple of months back.

"LSU is still at the top, but I am still wide open as far as making a decision," Abernathy said. "I would like to make some official visits first. I spoke to coach [Larry] Porter from LSU the other day and he was asking me about my season and when I thought I'd be able to make a trip to Baton Rouge. I am not sure yet, but the trip is in the making."

Note: Last season Abernathy was playing at 235 pounds. He informed that he lost about 20 pounds in the off season and he is now weighing in around 215 pounds. He said he forty time is in the 4.4 range now.
