BATON ROUGE, La. - The No. 2 ranked LSU Tigers jumped out to a big lead then held off No. 12 South Carolina to win 28-16 in Tiger Stadium on Saturday. here's how the scoring played out.

Drive Started: At South Carolina's 33 after a Patrick Fisher punt was partially deflected

Key Play: South Carolina found itself in a hole following Darry Beckwith's sack of Gamecock quarterback Blake Mitchell. Facing third and 16 from near midfield, Mitchell completed a 29-yard pass to --- for a first down. --- plays later, South Carolina scored only the second touchdown allowed by the LSU defense this season.

Key Play: On second and 10 from the Tigers' own 31, Matt Flynn completed a 24-yard pass to tight end Richard Dickson. LSU had had problems holding onto the football on its first two drives, but even though he got nailed as soon as the catch was made, Dickson held onto the ball. LSU scored two plays later on Holliday's burst over the right side.

Key Play: South Carolina got itself in a hole when it interfered with Jared Mitchell on LSU's punt return. A 15-yard penalty gave LSU good field position at the Tigers 44. The Tigers instituted its two-quarterback system as both Flynn and Ryan Perrilloux took snaps. Perrilloux broke a designed quarterback draw up the middle for a gain of 19yards to the South Carolina three. Two plays later, Flynn hit Dickson on a one-yard touchdown pass for LSU's first lead of the game.
