As the countdown to kickoff continues, TigerRag.com offers our official prediction of Saturday's game.
Florida comes into the game a little on the desperate side
having lost last weekend to Auburn 20-17. The Gators definitely don't want
to lose two games in a row. But the Tigers have a little payback in mind after a
plethora of miscues ended LSU's hopes for a championship last year in Gainesville. To add a
little extra incentive, the Tigers are ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll for the first
time in almost a half-century. Expect LSU to come out more focused than ever,
especially after such a bungled effort in the Superdome last weekend.
Before Florida's 30-24 win over Ole Miss, the Gators looked as if
they haven't missed a beat since hammering Ohio State in last year's national championship
game. But the last two weeks have proven that Florida has serious chinks in the armor,
especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Gators are struggling to stop
people from scoring points. Ole Miss and Auburn
aren't what you'd call explosive offensive teams and they each managed 20-plus
points on the Florida defense. Tim Tebow is a load, but he
is practically a one-man show. Tebow can do it all, but a solid defensive team
like Auburn showed the Florida offensive
juggernaut can be slowed. And the Tigers' defense is better than Auburn's. Plus, (bad news
so is LSU's offense.
LSU 31, Florida 21
