Chancellor opens year one at LSU

LSU's women's basketball team officially began the Van Chancellor era on Friday night with the team's first practice of the season.

Chancellor was hired as the program's fifth head coach last April and takes over a team that returns nine seniors and has advanced to four straight NCAA Final Fours.

"It feels great to get this team out on the court," Chancellor said. "There is a lot of energy and enthusiasm on this team and we are ready to get things revved up."

The Lady Tigers practiced for just under two hours on Friday to officially get the 2007-08 season underway. LSU opens the exhibition season on Oct. 31 when they host Lake Trucking at 7 p.m. CT in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The Lady Tigers begin the regular season against Samford in the Maravich Center on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. CT in the opening round of the Preseason WNIT.
