PREVIEW: LSU vs. Auburn

TigerRag.com's head to head look at Saturday's matchup between LSU and Auburn.

Head to Head:

Auburn WR vs. LSU DT

Rodgeriqus Smith vs. Jonathan Zenon

Boy, did Jonathan Zenon get picked on last week! Zenon, regarded as one of the top cornerbacks in the SEC, drew lots of attention from Kentucky quarterback Andre Woodson and his cast of talented wideouts. Woodson threw at Zenon many times and eventually tossed the game-winning touchdown over his head to wide receiver Steve Johnson. Rodgeriqus Smith is Auburn's leading receiver with 27 catches for 397 yards and three touchdowns and will likely be on the lookout for Zenon on Saturday.

LSU LB vs. Auburn RB

Ali Highsmith vs. Brad Lester

Looking at the state sheet, Brad Lester is a distant third in rushing yards compiled by Auburn this season. The reason is Lester was serving a suspension and has played in only two games this season. Coming back for the Vanderbilt game two weekends ago, Lester has accumulated 166 yards on 34 carries (4.8 yards per carry) and has rushed for a pair of touchdowns. Lester is no doubt the Tigers' best running back, and the heart of the LSU defense, led by linebacker Ali Highsmith, will be tested by him time and again.

Player to Watch:

Brandon Cox

QB, Senior

6-2, 207

Trussville, AL

Hewitt-Trussville

Talk about Jekyll and Hyde! It's hard to tell when it comes to Brandon Cox. Cox came to Auburn hyped as one of the next great quarterbacks in the SEC. However, his career has been a rocky one on The Plains. Cox has had his moments, but inconsistency has plagued him time and again. Cox no doubt played his best game at Florida three weekends ago; but he has looked very average ever since, especially in a 13-of-23, 101-yard performance against Arkansas last week. Cox enjoyed a solid outing against LSU a year ago and will no doubt want to end his Auburn career with a win over the rival Tigers.
