Karam Bleeds Purple and Gold

Some guys can accept just getting to the big game, but not winning it. Jacob Karam (6'1.5, 205, 4.7) wants to get there, win it and then do it again.

"My team was 7-3 (2 losses in district play) this season and we still did not make the playoffs," said Karam. "That just shows you how good our district is. We could have went 8-2 and still not have made it to the playoffs.

"It really bothers me because I want us to get there," Karam added. "It kind of motivates me. I've been working out everyday just trying to improve. I've even been trying to get the underclassman into it as well and ready for next season. I really want to leave my mark with this team."

Some may say Karam has already left his mark with Friendswood High School. As a sophomore Karam was named as the district newcomer of the year,1st Team All-County, All-State Honorable mention and was named as the sophomore of the year for his team.

As a sophomore the gun-slinger threw for 2,338 yards (151-of-282) and 21 touchdowns, plus one receiving and three rushing touchdowns. Karam also led the greater Houston area in passing (4A).

Those numbers are the reason why some schools have already contacted Karam and one school even extended an offer.

"I've talked to some coaches from a few schools," Karam stated. "Stanford offered me a scholarship in the spring. I am flattered by any schools that show interest in me because it is an honor. Right now though I would say my top 4 teams would be LSU, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Texas A&M."

Karam said his feelings for LSU are a little different than some would imagine.

"I really like LSU," said Karam. "I have a lot of family in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans area. Plus, my dad went to school at LSU.

"I think LSU is the best team in the SEC," Karam continued. "I think Les Miles is a great coach and LSU should be the #1 team in the country right now. They have always kind of been my favorite team growing up. I guess you could say I bleed purple and gold."

Note: As a junior, Karam threw for 1,955 yards and 25 touchdowns. Karam's max on bench is 260lbs. and the talented QB was unsure of his squat max.
