Dorsey, Steltz named to team

The honors continue to pile up for LSU defenders Glenn Dorsey and Craig Steltz as they were both named first-team All-Americans by, the website announced on Tuesday.

Dorsey, a senior defensive tackle, and Steltz, a senior safety, have both made multiple All-America teams this year.

Dorsey, who has also been named the winner of four national awards – Lombardi, Outland, Nagurski and Lott – added to his list of honors that has already seen him become the most decorated defensive player in school history this year.

In a season that saw Dorsey battle through several injuries, he still managed to record 64 tackles, 11.5 tackles for losses and six sacks. He was the key component of an LSU defense that ranked among the top 10 in the nation in three categories, including a No. 3 rating in total defense.

Steltz, who replaced 2007 NFL first round draft pick LaRon Landry at safety this year, leads the Tigers with 97 tackles and he's first in the Southeastern Conference in interceptions with six. Steltz also recorded five tackles for losses, three forced fumbles and seven pass breakups.

Steltz was one of three finalists for the Thorpe Award for the nation's top defensive back. also listed LSU linebacker Ali Highsmith and Tiger cornerback Chevis Jackson as honorable mention All-America selections.
