TR TV: Pittman Overcame All The Odds

LSU defensive end Kirston Pittman is one of a handful of current Tigers that were on the team in 2003 when LSU won the national championship.

The only difference is that Pittman was a contributor on that team while the others, including Matt Flynn, Will Arnold and Patrick Fisher, were all redshirts.

Pittman earned freshman all-SEC honors that year after recording 15 tackles, two sacks and 17 quarterback hurries. But his first season was one of the few bright spots of his career before this year.

Pittman endured two catastrophic injuries including a tumor in his ankle and a ruptured Achilles tendon that put him out of comission for two seasons.

But Pittman, who could still peition the NCAA for another season of eligibility, came back strong this year and has been a mainstay at defensive opposite Tyson Jackson. Pittman is elated about his shot at winning a second national championship ring, especially after such a tramatic career.
