Randolph Named SEC Frosh of the Week

LSU freshman forward Anthony Randolph picked up his second Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honor Monday for his play in the games last week at Auburn and at Alabama.

The winners are chosen by the league's media relations office based on nominees from the various schools SID staffs.

LSU split their two games last week, defeating Auburn, 82-81, and losing to Alabama, 81-72.

The 6-10 Dallas, Texas native scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half to help LSU to its first conference win of the season at Auburn. He was also 9-of-15 from the field with six board and two blocks.

Against Alabama, Randolph posted his fifth double double of the seasons with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

He also continues to block shots with regularity as his four blocks this past week put him into the top 10 in school history for a single season with 50 blocks.

For the year, Randolph is averaging 14.1 points per game, 8.6 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. He is in the top four among league freshman in four statistical categories and number one in rebounds and blocks.
