Chaney Tabbed SEC Player of the Week

Quianna Chaney, a senior guard for LSU's eighth-ranked women's basketball team, was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for her effort in the Lady Tigers pair of wins last week.

The honor is Chaney's second of the season and the fourth for LSU in the past five weeks. Fellow senior Sylvia Fowles earned the honor last week and on Jan. 14, while Chaney received the award on Jan. 7.

Chaney led LSU to wins over South Carolina and at Florida during the week. The Baton Rouge native shot 52.2 percent from the floor in the two games, including hitting 7 of 13 3-pointers to average 16.5 points in the victories. She scored 14 points and dished out four assists in the win over South Carolina and scored a team-high 19 points with four assists in the win at Florida on Sunday.

During the week, Chaney moved up to 21st on LSU's career scoring list and has 1,124 points, one shy of 20th-place. She also moved up to third-place in 3-pointers taken at LSU with 485.

Chaney and LSU travel to Alabama on Thursday to face the Crimson Tide at 6 p.m. CST before hosting Georgia on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the 12th annual Pack the PMAC and the WBCA's "Think Pink" Breast Cancer awareness campaign game.
