Randolph Named SEC Freshman of the Week

LSU basketball forward Anthony Randolph of Dallas earned his third Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honor Monday for his play last week at Florida and Kentucky.

The Tigers split a pair of games, winning at Florida 85-73 and dropping a hard fought 57-53 decision to Kentucky. LSU travels to Fayetteville Wednesday night for a game televised regionally by Raycom Sports.

At Florida, Randolph played 38 minutes, making 10-of-16 field goal attempts with 22 points, 5 rebounds and two blocks, while against the Wildcats Randolph equaled his career high 24 points and had his sixth double double of the season with 24 points (9-of-16 from the field) with 14 rebounds, a block and four steals.

For the week, Randolph was 19-of-32 from the field, 8-of-14 from the free throw line with 46 points and 19 rebounds.

He was also the Freshman of the Week two weeks ago for his play on the road at Auburn and at Alabama. Those numbers showed Randolph scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half to help LSU win the game at Auburn (1/30) and then had his fifth double double of the year (13 points, 12 rebounds) in the game at Alabama (2/3).

Randolph also won SEC FOW honors after the season opener in November when he had 19 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks against Southeastern Louisiana.
