Dent has a Top 3

The Lonestar State is deep with defensive linemen for 2009 and one of the state's top defensive tackles is Randall Dent of Grand Prairie (Texas) South Grand Prairie.

Randall Dent

As a junior, Dent (6-4, 270) was in on 60 tackles and five sacks, and he caused two fumbles and recovered three more.

He currently holds a handful of offers and is hearing from so many schools that he could not recall them all.

"I have five offers," he said. "I have Oklahoma State, Kansas, Texas Tech, Minnesota and Oregon. Texas, LSU and some other ones are showing a lot of interest too but I can't remember them all."

With interest coming from all directions, Dent said that he has three schools at the top of his list and all three are not too far from home.

"It's LSU, Texas and Oklahoma State in no particular order," he said.

What is it about those schools that make them stand out over the others?

LSU—"I like the program and their style of defense. They have a winning tradition and that kind of attracts me to their program as well."

Texas—"I know a couple of kids down there and I think I'd fit in very well at Texas. I visited the school and I really liked it so I got a good feel for Texas."

Oklahoma State—"It's kind of the same with Texas. I know some kids over there as well and I like my recruiting coordinator (Curtis Luper). He seems like a real nice guy. I visited their school and they have a lot of new facilities so I'm real attracted to their program."

Dent has already visited Texas and Oklahoma State but he has yet to step foot on campus at LSU.

He said that he plans on camping at LSU this summer so that he can compare it to the others on his short list and see if everything defensive line coach Earl has told him checks out.

Since OSU is the only school out of his top three to offer, is Dent expecting a full-ride to come his way soon from the Tigers or the Longhorns?

"I haven't heard anything from LSU about an offer but Texas said they will be offering pretty soon," he said.

If the Horns offer would that make Dent rush to make a decision?

"When the time is right and I feel like I made the right decision I will go with it but I'm not going to feel rushed into making one," he said.
