2009 Profile: Lamin Barrow

The talent level in the New Orleans area is pretty strong for the 2009 class and one of the headliners coming out of the region is Marrero-John Ehret linebacker Lamin Barrow.

Lamin Barrow

Barrow, a 6-2, 210-pounder with 4.7 speed, was very active at strong side linebacker for the Patriots during his junior year with over 100 tackles to his credit.

He plays from sideline-to-sideline and uses his speed and instincts to lead the John Ehret defense.

Does he agree with that take?

"I think my intensity and the way I play is what stands out," he said. "People say I'm a smooth player but I'm very tough to block because I'm very elusive. I'm always around the ball too.

"I feel like wherever the ball is on the field I am going to chase it down. I made a lot of tackles last year coming off the backside or going from sideline to sideline so I just try and get to the ball wherever it is at."

John Ehret head coach Billy North does not allow his players to get too consumed with the recruiting process until their junior year is nearly complete so Barrow isn't sure if he has picked up any offers yet.

He does know of some schools that have sent letters and are in contact with North, and he also has some schools in mind that he hopes to see in his stack of letters he will get in the coming weeks.

"I know coach (Larry) Porter (LSU) has talked to coach and I've seen some letters from Kansas State and Tulane," said Barrow.

"I'm hoping to see some stuff from any school in the SEC because I'm just ready for some schools to notice my talent," he added. "But being from Louisiana, LSU has always been my favorite school but if it doesn't work out then I hope someone in the SEC will come my way."
