Spring practice wraps up

Practice was scaled back quite a bit on Thursday as the coaches put the players through an abbreviated session leading up to Saturday's spring game. The media was allowed in for 15 minutes and everything was a lot more relaxed than it has been since we've been out there.

The Tigers were dressed in “shells” and several players were dressed out but not taking part in the workout that was open to the media, most notably, Brett Helms, Lyle Hitt, Ricky Dixon and Jacob Cutrera.

Charles Scott, Ricky Jean-Francois, Trindon Holliday and Shomari Clemons were not at practice but Jared Mitchell was there today. And, of course, Ryan Perrilloux was not out there today either.

In Hitt and Helms’ absence, Ryan Miller was working with the first team at center and Josh Dworaczyk was running in Hitt’s spot at right guard.

The quarterbacks were throwing some deep outs and working on some bootleg action for the majority of the time we saw them throw. Most of the passes they were throwing that we saw were 20-25 yards downfield and there wasn’t a lot of rhythm between the receivers and quarterbacks.

Kirsten Pittman was dressed out and going full-speed but Charles Alexander only did some individual work and was off to the side when the defense got together as a unit.

Les Miles will meet the media 30 minutes earlier than his scheduled 6 p.m. slot which is further indication that today was more of a dress rehearsal than anything else.

TigerSportsDigest.com will have more after we hear Miles speak later this evening.
