We felt that there was a good chance that Minter could pull the trigger on his visit and commit to the Tigers over offers from USC, Florida State, Nebraska, South Carolina, Oklahoma and several others.
What made the nation’s 5th ranked middle backer give Les Miles his pledge?
“I was thinking about it on the way down there and I really didn’t feel like I needed to be anywhere else,” Minter said. “It feels like home down here. I really like the environment and the coaches down here. It feels like a big family and the coaches treat the players so well. I love it down here.”
“He was really excited when I told him,” Minter said.
Someone else who was real excited when he heard the news was LSU’s headman and he showed just how excited he was.
“He was really excited,” Minter said. “He gave me a hug and just kept saying how excited he was and how I made his day. He said I could be a great player there and he can’t wait for me to get there.”
LSU co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Bradley Dale Peveto recruited Minter for the Tigers and he likes the versatility his newest commitment brings to a defense.
“He said I could play any of the three positions,” Minter said. “He said I could play the Will, Mike or the Buck position. He said they’re going to look at Mike first and then go from there.”
Minter was on his way to Florida when we spoke to him to enjoy some sun and the beach on his spring break.
Now that his decision is behind and he has some relaxation ahead of him how does it feel?
“I’m really excited to be a Tiger and I just can’t wait to get down there,” he said. “I just can’t wait.”
