Q&A with Brad Bridgewater

LSU senior forward talks about the loss to Global Sports and where the Tigers need to improve before their next exhibition game.

Brad Bridgewater

Q: This certainly wasn't the way you wanted to open the season. What were the things you thought went wrong tonight?

A: I don't think we came out as aggressive as we needed to. I don't think we underestimated (Global Sports) because we knew they were pretty good. We just didn't have what it took. We did some good things, but we just didn't put it together like we needed to.

Q: Was it sort of a case of "I told you so" after coach Brady had been preaching "team, team, team" and there were some guys out there doing individual stuff?

A: I'm never going to "down" my teammates and the way they play. I just figured they did what they thought they needed to do to keep us in the game. We had a lot of offense that we rushed, took some quick shots when we needed to slow down and run some efficient offense. I think everybody wanted to put forth an effort; we just didn't do good enough.

Q: Coach Brady issued a call for leadership. What does that mean to Brad Bridgewater?

A: Me, personally, I think I come out every day in practice and work hard. I lead by example. Unless I'm really emotional, I'm not going to speak out too much. I come to practice. I work hard. I work through any injuries or problems I have…and I just try to lead by example. We've got some vocal guys. Maybe we're not getting the point through to some of the younger guys. I think the leadership, it will be there. It will be there.
