Bertman hospitalized

Skip Bertman, the architect of LSU's baseball dynasty that won five national titles, had to be taken to the hospital on Saturday prior to LSU's win against Southern Miss and a procedure was done to alleviate some blockage in one of his main arteries to his heart.

Details are sketchy but LSU senior associate athletic director Herb Vincent released the following statement after LSU’s win over the Golden Eagles.

“Coach Skip Bertman was at home today experiencing some discomfort this afternoon and chose to go to the hospital. He was showing the early signs of a heart attack. He had blockage in one of the main arteries to the heart. Coach Bertman had a stint placed in his heart and the procedure was successful. He is now is the hospital resting comfortably and will be there for several days.”
