“LSU offered me last Thursday,” Wharton High safety Jairus Jones said. “[LSU] had been by practice before and said that they really liked the way I played, and was pretty versatile from what they saw on offense.”
The Tampa native, who has yet to pick up offers from the big in-state schools, said that he is not waiting around for things to come to him.
“I liked Florida in the beginning, but they lost interest in me,” Jones said. “Miami has been on me a little, but they still have not even gotten my tapes.”
With Jones just down the road from Central Florida and a stone’s throw from South Florida, the three-star prospect said that he will be going out of state with his visits in the fall.
“I am not going to take a visit anywhere in Florida,” Jones said. “I am already familiar with the schools that are after me around here, so I don’t need to make an official to see them. I am just going to head out of the state for all five.”
With summer camp beginning June 9 for Wharton, Jones said that he will line-up his campus visits sometime in the near future.
“I am going to see if anything more happens between now and the end of summer,” Jones said. “I am going to sit down with my mom and just lay it all out. She feels like now that LSU has offered, more offers will begin to come my way.”
