Norris wants to see Baton Rouge again

One of the top tight ends in the south took an unofficial trip to Baton Rouge last weekend to watch one of his old childhood favorites whip up on LSU. Even though Alabama enjoyed a resounding 31-0 victory, David "DJ" Norris (6-3, 240, 4.6) of Pace, Fla., left very impressed with his Tiger Stadium experience.

He will schedule an official visit after the Tigers wrap up their regular season.
Norris said he narrowed his list of schools to Florida State, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia Tech and LSU. He said he does not have a leader at this time but Florida State and Tennessee are the two schools he knows the most about. After his recent trip to LSU, though, some of that could change.
"I liked it," Norris said of his experience at Tiger Stadium. "LSU got beat pretty bad but I still liked the atmosphere and everything. It was a good time."
One thing that stood out to Norris and his family was the fan support at LSU and he compared it to a couple of other schools he is considering.
"The fans are similar," he said. "Florida State fans are not as big of die-hards as there are in the SEC but they are always winning. At Tennessee, the stadium and atmosphere were great. Stadium-wise and atmosphere-wise, LSU and Tennessee are probably at the top."
Sonny's View: LSU is recruiting Norris as a tight end/F-back. The Tigers impressed him enough to get him to make an official visit but there could be way too much ground for the LSU coaches to have to make up. One thing that could help LSU's case is that Norris' grandmother and aunt live in Baton Rouge so family could come into play. Watch out for Florida if Ron Zook continues to get things going in the right direction. Zook and Florida offensive coordinator Ed Zaunbrecher like to utilize the tight ends in the passing game and they could make a strong push in the end.
