Brent's at LSU

South Oak Cliff safety Kevin Brent had an enormous junior season, finishing with 85 tackles and three safeties, good for safety of the year honors in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

After flirting around with the local Longhorns, Kevin Brent (5-11, 196, 4.42) dropped ties with Texas as the summer progressed.

With rumors surrounding his recruitment pointing to the Dallas-native heavily favoring the Sooners, Brent ensures that it still remains a multiple team race.

“I am getting recruited pretty hard by Oklahoma, LSU and Texas Tech,” he said. “I have just been trying to check out everybody but those are the main ones right now.”

Last month, Brent announced that he would be making his decision before his first game in August.

Earlier this month, though, he retracted that statement, instead claiming that he would continue to take official visits even after his senior season wrapped up in December, along with at least one more unofficial.

Arriving in Port Arthur last night, the nation’s No. 4 ranked safety will be getting to Baton Rouge today for an unofficial visit with his high school coach.

“This will be my first visit to Baton Rouge,” Brent said. “I am coming to see what the campus is all about. I already know what their defense is all about, so seeing the campus is what I am there to do. Then I will be able to compare, because I have gotten the chance to go to Norman [Oklahoma] twice.”

Of course, the four-star knows that the Tiger’s will be pulling out all their best moves to help lure him away from the Lonestar State and into the bayou.

“I know they really want me down there,” he said. “I love their defense, so I want to check out how things would look.”
