LSU makes the cut with Hall

LSU has Louisiana's top ranked offensive tackle already in the bag as the Tigers picked up a commitment from Chris Faulk back in May. The Tigers are looking for at least one more guy to defend the edge and a name you may not have heard much of before but that you'll want to keep up with now is Marcus Hall.

Marcus Hall is a 6-5, 293-pounder out of Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville and is’s 4th ranked tackle in the land.

The 5-star prospect has offers from coast to coast but he recently narrowed his list down and LSU has made the cut.

“I’ve narrowed it down to Michigan, Ohio State, LSU, Illinois and Miami,” Hall said. “USC is another school I still have some interest in but they haven’t offered me so those are the five I’m talking to right now about an official visit.”

Since Les Miles has been at LSU, the Tigers have recruited the state of Ohio more than ever before because former defensive coordinator Bo Pelini had ties to the Buckeye State.

Pelini has moved on to Nebraska but there is another member of the staff with ties to the area that has paid big dividends with Hall’s recruitment.

“Their offensive line coach [Greg Studwara] is an Ohio guy and I worked with him some at a Bowling Green camp,” Hall said. “He’s the kind of guy I like a lot because he is real enthusiastic with the way he coaches and you can tell he knows a lot about the o-line.”

Another coach on the Tigers’ staff has made a good impression on Hall and he is looking forward to getting to know him more.

“Coach Miles seems like a real good guy and I like him a lot,” said Hall. “He’s a former offensive line coach and he spends a lot of time working with his guys to make them better. He seems to care a lot about his players.”

Currently, Hall said that he doesn’t have any visits set up but Miami may be the first one he takes.

While he doesn’t have a date set for LSU just yet he is looking forward to getting down to Baton Rouge.

“I’ve heard a lot about the atmosphere down there and now I’m just trying to see when I can make it down there,” he said. “It may be tough to make it during the season but that’s something we’re trying to work out right now.”
