Week 1 Highlights
*** Washington and New York got the season started last Thursday with the Giants prevailing 16-7.
Joe Addai carried the ball 12 times and picked up 44 yards for the Colts but he was overshadowed by Bears’ rookie and former Tulane running back Matt Forte, who rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. He was the first Bears’ rookie to start at running back since Walter Payton (1975).
*** Dwayne Bowe scored the Chiefs’ only touchdown in their 17-10 loss to New England. He finished with five catches for 49 yards with his touchdown grab covering 13 yards in the fourth quarter.
Glenn Dorsey started in his first regular season game for the Chiefs and logged two tackles.
*** Buffalo defeated Seattle 34-10 and a trio of Tigers started and had their hand in the Bills’ victory.
Robert Royal led the Bills with six catches and they covered 52 yards with one of them going for a 30-yard touchdown.
Howard Green had three tackles for Seattle in the losing effort.
*** The Saints defeated Tampa Bay 24-20 and Devery Henderson caught only one pass but it went for an 84-yard touchdown.
Randall Gay got the start in his first regular season game with New Orleans and finished with five solo tackles and he broke up a pass from his cornerback spot.
*** Ryan Clark was in on 8 tackles (6 solos & 2 assists) in Pittsburgh’s 38-17 win over Houston.
*** There are two games slated for Monday night with Minnesota taking on Matt Flynn and the Green Bay Packers. Oakland will square off against Denver and JaMarcus Russell will get the start for the Raiders.
