Garrett breaks another record

It wasn't a normal week for high school football due to Hurricane Ike but there were several LSU commitments and prospects in action. Here is a rundown on some of the players of interest for 2009 and a look at some for down the road.

LSU Commits

 

Chris Garrett led his team to a 47-14 win last night and during the game he broke the school record for career TD passes. On the night, he completed 15 of 18 for 258 yards and 3 touchdowns.

4-star running back Michael Ford broke a longtime school record as he surpassed Cecil Collins’ single-game rushing mark of 332 yards with 335 on the ground in Leesville’s 41-26 win over Sam Houston on Wednesday. He scored five touchdowns on his 30 carries with his scoring runs covering 6, 72, 43, 34 and 31 yards.

Janzen Jackson had a huge night in his return to Carencro as the 4-star cornerback returned two punts for a touchdown and took a screen pass 46 yards for another score in Barbe’s 69-13 demolition of Carencro on Wednesday.

Kenny Bell caught two passes for 24 yards in Rayville’s 28-19 win over Sterlington.

4-star receiver Rantavious Wooten had two touchdown grabs in a 36-7 win over Palm Beach Central to push his total to five on the year. He caught a 46-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and added a 24-yarder to start the second half in leading Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central to the win.

 

 

2009 Prospects

 

Quarterback Rueben Randle fired a 15-yard touchdown pass and ran one in from 4 yards out in a 42-6 win over Dollarway (Ark.). The 5-star receiver completed 8 of 14 passes for 74 yards on the evening.

Trent Richardson ran wild to the tune of 419 yards and six touchdowns on 29 carries in Pensacola-Escambia’s 41-7 win. The 4-star back scored on runs of 52, 28, 31, 63, 4 and 80 yards. His mark was the fourth best rushing performance in Florida prep history.

4-star tight end Orson Charles had four catches for 78 yards with one going for a 13 yard touchdown in Tampa (Fla.) Plant’s 49-7 win over Gaither.

 

 

2010 Prospects

 

Shevrick Davis (6-3, 185) of Central (La.) caught 10 passes for 184 yards with one of his catches going for a 35-yard touchdown in a 28-12 win over Zachary on Thursday.

 

Throwing the passes to Davis was 6-3, 170-pound junior Will Briscoe, who was 23 of 36 for 296 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He also ran for a short touchdown.

Lache Seastrunk ran for 227 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries in a 13-10 loss in double overtime to Leander (Texas). The talented back scored Temple’s only touchdown on a 34-yard run.

Terrance Broadway and his Baton Rouge (La.) squad fell to John Curtis 40-22 on Thursday. Broadway reportedly left the game on crutches with an unspecified ankle injury and did not return but before he went out completed 12 of 13 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for 83 yards and a score. His scoring toss was from 4 yards out and his touchdown run was a 72-yarder.

Taylor Burch tossed four touchdown passes and finished 11 of 18 for 157 yards in Monroe (La.) Neville’s 36-25 win over Ouachita. He didn’t throw any picks and his four scoring tosses were from 21, 10, 13 and 24 yards out.

Sterlington (La.) signal caller Logan Dopson was good on 11 of 23 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns but he did throw three interceptions in a 28-19 loss to Rayville.

 

 

2011 Prospects

 

On Wednesday night, sophomore sensation Kenny Hilliard rushed for three touchdowns and finished with 87 yards on 21 carries in Patterson’s 42-28 loss to Cecilia.
