Logan's still waiting

The Tigers are still looking for another defensive end to add to the 2009 class, and one prospect that is quickly rising up their board is Bennie Logan from Coushatta, La.

Now up to 6’3” and 250 pounds, Logan made the drive down to Baton Rouge for the Tigers’ home finale last weekend. It was his third unofficial visit to LSU this season.

“Everything went well on my visit,” Logan said. “I got to campus around noon, and left around 7. I thought the game was good, but LSU just had too many simple mistakes. I feel like I could come in and make an impact as a speed rusher.”

While Logan does not yet hold an offer from LSU, interest seems to be picking up from the Tigers’ end on the in-state prospect.

“I talked to Coach Miles when I first got there,” he said. “He said he saw my highlight tape from this year and he liked it. I was supposed to talk to him after the game, but I didn’t see him.

“I talk to Coach McCarthy and Coach Lane too,” Logan continued. “Coach McCarthy is my recruiting coach, and we talk every once in a while. I talk to Coach Lane about every two weeks.”

With his senior season now over at Red River High School, Logan is ready to begin taking his official visits.

“I’m going to Nebraska this Thursday for my first official visit,” he said. “They have offered me already I think. I also want to visit Arkansas and Louisiana Tech. And I’ll be going to LSU in January.”

“I want to commit to a school in early December,” Logan added. “But I’m going to take that visit to LSU in January no matter what.”

Note: As a senior, Logan finished the regular season at Red River with over 100 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and six sacks.
