The final days of March brought some big news to Torian Richardson.
Three months removed from a state championship with the Rebels, the Byrnes standout had received his first offer. The next day, he landed his second offer.
In the title game last December, Richardson opened eyes with his quick feet and hands. He grabbed two big catches, both on the same drive, of 26-yards and 13-yards, to keep one of the game's crucial drives alive.
With letters and phone calls coming from a numbers of schools across the Southeast, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect said that the next step is landing an offer from the Tigers.
"I have always liked what I have heard about LSU, so to be in the picture with them is big for me," Richardson said.
The Tigers contacted the speedy wideout during their search for someone to fill the slot receiver spot, a position that Richardson feels more than comfortable in.
"The LSU coaches told me that they really like what I can do for them at slot, so it would be a good fit," he said. "They said that they want me to get down there soon so that I can sit down with them and watch the film and start talking about what I would be doing if I were a Tiger."
That visit will come April 18 for the Tigers' spring game, where the junior will be in attendance alongside teammates Marcus Lattimore and Brandon Willis.
"I am ready to see what LSU is really all about," Richardson said. "I know that they won the national championship recently, and I want to carry on the tradition of winning that I have gotten to experience here at Byrnes.
"LSU is known for that big time atmosphere, and everyone talks about the night games being so intense," he added. "I won't get to see that this time, but I am still going to get to find out a good bit."
Headed into the trip, he said his only goal will be to open his mind to everything he sees.
"I just want to be able to go to Baton Rouge and let it all sink in," he said. "I was supposed to be going to Florida that weekend for a visit, but I want to make the LSU trip. I am pretty excited about it, just getting to meet the staff and all that.
"An offer from LSU would really be great, so I am hoping for good things."
