Iowa gets into the mix

Tampa-Wharton (Fla.) athlete Larry Edwards (6-3, 215, 4.55) has had LSU and North Carolina in his top two for nearly two months and the Tigers and Tarheels are still his two leaders.

However, throw the Iowa Hawkeyes into the mix because they will get his final official visit. Do the Big 10 co-champs have a chance to steal one from the Sunshine State?

"Iowa offered me a little while ago and they just got back in it again," Edwards told Tiger Rag. "They don't want me to play outside linebacker. They want me to play tailback. They feel like I can be a big-time tailback there."

LSU, North Carolina, Florida and Nebraska are recruiting him to play linebacker and that is where he thinks he is better suited.

"I want to play linebacker but as long as I get to play I'll be happy," he said. "I want to go to a program where I can play early and get the full potential out of myself to where I can be a top draft pick or an All-America candidate. LSU presents a good opportunity right now but I just want to look at everything before I make a big decision."

Edwards will visit UNC this weekend and then he will go to Florida (1/24) and Iowa (1/31) to round things out. When asked if he had a leader at this point, he replied "No, not really."

"My LSU visit was good but Nebraska really wasn't all that," said Edwards. "I was impressed with Nebraska's facilities but it is still the same two. I'm just trying to take all my visits and see everything before I make my decision."
