Pittman hearing a lot from Saban

Nick Saban spends a lot of time on the telephone with recruits this time of the year trying to sell himself and the LSU program as one of the best duos in the country.

He spent a part of his Monday evening talking to one of Louisiana's most athletically gifted players that resides not too far from the Capitol City.

Reserve-East St. John defensive end/linebacker Kirston Pittman (6-5, 235, 4.5) is one of Saban's top priorities and the two have been talking quite frequently of late. They are building a strong bond heading down the stretch to National Signing Day and that does not bode well for the Tigers' competition.

"Our conversation went real good," Pittman said. "He (Saban) is a great guy. As far as being just a straight forward coach, he is as straight forward as any other coach I've ever talked to. He's a great guy."

Pittman said he has a lot of respect for Saban and the way he has handled his recruitment.

"That is one of the things I like the most," Pittman told Tiger Rag. "Some people tell you things and when you get there it's a whole other situation. But, that is liable to be anywhere you go. Right now, he is straight forward and upfront with me and that is what I really like about coach."

With visits to Michigan and Texas behind him, he is now looking forward to his visit to Florida State this weekend and then closes out with Miami (1/24) and the Tigers (1/31). Pittman said he took advantage of the dead period in recruiting and just enjoyed watching the bowl games.

"I have just been chilling and working out and that is about it," he said. "I haven't been doing too much but just hitting the weights real hard."
