Getting to know Tyler Glynn

Glynn’s senior season….. “We cruised pretty much through the regular season. We made it to the playoffs. The first game wasn’t really a test – it was Scotlandville. But the second game we played St. Thomas Moore. We came back to win, 28-21. It was one of the best games I’ve ever played in my life. We eventually made it to the Dome. It was the first time I played in the state championship. I wish we would have won [lost to Destrehan], but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

“I had a low point the third game of the season when I cracked a rib. I wasn’t 100 percent for two more weeks. It was my personal low point.”

Other sports Glynn participated in….. “I ran track. I ran two meets and tore my hamstring. I’m still rehabbing that. I was all-state last year [junior] in track.”

“LSU wants me to long jump as well in the spring. That depends on how football goes. If I think I need to stay with football and workout with the team, I might not do track.”

On the recruiting process….. “Me and Barkevious Mingo are real good friends. We had a lot of fun just making road trips to different places and meeting new people. When we went to Bama the coaches were nice and they treated us well. The players treated us well too.”

On LSU….. “I felt it was the best fit. When I got interested in football, that’s all I wanted to do. Now that’s its actually coming true, I can’t wait. I love it down in Baton Rouge and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

On deciding to walk-on rather than pursue a scholarship with a smaller school….. “Some people think I’m crazy because it’s a scholarship and everything is paid for, but I’m not going to pass up going to LSU. Without money being an issue, why would I want to go somewhere else where I’m going to be miserable?”

“I want to be an LSU Tigers and that’s what I’m going to do. I don’t care if I’m a preferred walk-on. I’m going to do what I want to do.”

Adjusting to Coach Moffitt’s workout program….. “After I had a couple weeks off, I got out of shape a little bit. It kind of kicked my butt the first couple of weeks but I got used to it. I’m in pretty good shape now. I’ve gained about 10, 12 pounds.”

Academic status is….. “Another reason why I was OK with being a walk-on is that I have TOPS.”

Moving to Baton Rouge and rooming with….. “The first day we report is June 8 but we’re moving down earlier. It will be me, Ke-Ke and two other roommates living together.”

Glynn’s playing style is best described by….. “My speed helps me a lot. I’m a cover corner. I’m not one of those big guys, but I will lay a hit.”

Relationships he has built….. “I spoke with Russell Shepard a few times. Michael Ford and I ran track against each other. He also played in the Louisiana all-star game with me. Charles Scott, I played against him when he was a senior, and I ran track with him, too. I know him real well.”

Something people would never expect….. “Probably that I am fast.”

Favorite food is….. “Sirloin steak”

Favorite movie is….. “Forest Gump”

Favorite pro sport and team is….. “I would say football. I don’t really watch pro anything really. I am a fan of the Saints though.”

LSU fans should get ready to….. “Fill the stands because it’s going to be a great season. I can’t wait to get up there and contend for a national championship.”
