Miss. LB looking forward to this weekend

LSU defensive coordinator Will Muschamp was in Mississippi on Monday visiting with one of the Tigers' top linebacker prospects in DeMarcus Scott of Greenville High School.

Scott will be visiting LSU this weekend for his official visit and the Tigers are still his leaders with three weeks to go before signing day.

LSU has been Scott's favorite for most of the recruiting process due largely to the bond Muschamp has made with him and the Tigers' need for linebackers.

"Everything went smooth," Scott said of his meeting with Muschamp. "We talked about how they are ready for me to come down there and we talked about the itinerary. He let me know again how excited they are."

It's obvious that the LSU coaches are not the only ones excited about this weekend.

"I'm ready to go," Scott told Tiger Rag. "I've been waiting on this for a while. I've been there for the combines but I want to go and see what the players and coaches are like."

Could Scott see enough on his trip that would make him leave Baton Rouge as an LSU commitment?

"It's a possibility but I just have to wait and see how I feel," he said.

The other main players in the running for his services are Mississippi State and Tennessee in that exact order. He has a visit set for Tennessee on Jan. 24 and Mississippi State on Jan. 31 but that could change after this weekend.

"I'm going to have to wait and see about those visits," Scott said. "I've been to Mississippi State a bunch and I don't know about Tennessee."

Sonny's View: If Scott commits like I think he will then he will give LSU a solid middle linebacker prospect that will be ranked much higher than he currently is by the time National Signing Day arrives. A better prospect in the middle than Moss Point, Mississippi's Marquis MacBeath.
