Growing up, unforgettable birthdays are the ones that you shoot for.
This Friday, Storm Johnson has a feeling that his celebration might go down as one of his most memorable.
“I talked with [running backs] coach [Larry] Porter last week, and I let him know that I was ready to make the call,” he said. “I went back and forth with coach Miles, and I let them know that I would give them my commitment in person.
“Being able to celebrate my birthday on Friday and becoming a Tiger, it is something that I can’t explain,” he added. “It will be a special weekend for me, that is for sure.”
Of course, what is a birthday without the presence of good company?
“I got to know Sam Gibson after he committed, and once he saw I wanted to be a Tiger he started calling me up,” Johnson said. “We became pretty close, and I am going to swing into Prattville to pick him up and ride in with me. We have even talked about becoming roommates, so I am glad we ran into each other.”
Once they arrive in Baton Rouge, the fun will begin.
“We are meeting up with Charles Scott to go out and let loose,” Johnson said. “Hopefully we will have plenty of time to just chill, because I want to feel out how my college environment will be. It will be a good chance for me to be welcomed into LSU.”
To make the weekend a complete success, a visit with Miles is in store.
“I already announced my decision to the world, so coach Miles is all that is left.”
Johnson, the nation’s No. 29 ranked running back, is on track to qualify with a 3.0 GPA and a 20 on the ACT.
