LSU leads for speed merchant

The Tiger coaching staff almost picked up a commitment over the weekend from one of the fastest receivers in the country.

LSU is now his leader and it will probably come down to a battle of three SEC schools for his services.

Emmanual Harrell (5-11, 185, 4.37) of LaGrange, Ga. is one of the most talented receivers in the land but grades are holding him back from getting the recognition he deserves from the major division-I powers.

He took his first official visit to LSU on Jan. 17 and he almost left Baton Rouge as a member of the highly regarded class Nick Saban is assembling.

"It was fun," Harrell told Tiger Rag. "I liked every thing over there. If I had to choose right now I would go over there and play ball. I liked what I saw over there. I wanted to commit on my visit. I wanted to so bad. But, I just said I'll wait."

Harrell said he thought he could commit to the Tigers at any time shortly after he returned from his trip but he decided to hold off for a while.

"I'm holding off of that right now," he said. "I want to make all of my visits before I make my final decision. After my visits I am going to break it down to which school I like the most and then commit there."

Arkansas will be his destination this weekend followed by Middle Tennessee State and Kentucky.

Even if Harrell has to go the prep school or juco route he is a gem that will make a lot of noise in a couple of years.
