Stewart enjoyed stay in Baton Rouge

Carnell Stewart (6-5, 295, 4.8) made his official visit to LSU last weekend with some of the top players in the state, including his teammate Ryan Watson.

Tiger Rag spoke with Watson but how was Stewart's stay in Baton Rouge?

"It was good," he said. "It was everything I thought it was going to be. I got a chance to see the academic center and the new dorm rooms and apartments they are building. We went over the depth chart and everything is cool now."

Perhaps one of the most important things he did on his trip was getting to know new defensive line coach Travis Jones.

"I met coach Jones and he turned out to be a nice person," said Stewart. "He is a good coach. I heard people talking about how he came from Kansas so he doesn't know what he is doing but I know he is a good coach."

Stewart, a 6-foot-5 295-pound defensive tackle/end, had visited Colorado and Florida before this last visit so where does he currently stand?

"I'm still wide open," he said. "I have Miami this weekend and right now I'm still open for my last visit."

Stewart and Watson have said all along that they wanted to sign with the same school on signing day and that appears to be the likely scenario for this imposing pair of defensive linemen.

"That is what we are trying to do," Stewart said. "We want to get it situated so we can go to school together. The way it is looking it will probably happen."
