Cooper chooses LSU, more on the way?

O. Perry Walker linebacker/defensive end Dominic Cooper has committed to LSU, and there is still a chance he might be joined by a couple of his teammates as future Tigers.

LSU won a fight with Clemson and Colorado for the commitment of linebacker/defensive end Dominic Cooper (6-4, 225, 4.6).

More attention has been given to his teammates at New Orleans-Walker, safety Darryl Johnson and wide receiver Craig Davis, but the Tigers have maintained a steady interest in Cooper, who might be asked to bulk up and play as a down lineman. In the absence of Jeremy Lawrence, LSU is in need of a strong side linebacker who can also serve as a designated pass rusher.

As a senior, Cooper recorded 76 tackles, 13 for a loss, 14 sacks, caused 4 fumbles and recovered four for the 4A State runners-up

The story may not be done as far as Johnson and Davis, who both verbally committed to Miami last weekend. Reports indicate Davis and Johnson, who were also considering LSU, may be having second thoughts about their pledges.

The possibility evidently still exists that they may come to LSU,where their head coach Frank Wilson is a candidate for an assistant coaching position. We'll continue to follow this story as it develops.
