A Look Ahead: Florida

When LSU defeated Georgia 20-13 on Saturday that set the stage for what will undoubtedly be the biggest matchup on the college football landscape next Saturday between No. 1 Florida and No. 4 LSU.

There will be plenty of storylines for next Saturday’s showdown on the Bayou when the top-ranked Florida Gators (4-0, 2-0) travel to Baton Rouge to face the fourth-ranked LSU Tigers (5-0, 3-0).

The last time Florida set foot in Tiger Stadium was in 2007 when LSU converted fourth down after fourth down and prevailed for a 28-24 victory courtesy of Jacob Hester’s two-yard touchdown run with 1:09 remaining.

The Gators got their revenge last season and hung up 51 points on LSU’s beleaguered defense for a 51-21 win.

The rankings are of obvious note as both teams enter the contest undefeated, but overshadowing that will be the status of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.

Tebow suffered a concussion against Kentucky on Sept. 26 when he got nailed by a blitzing Kentucky defender and hit his head on one of his teammates’ knee on his way to the ground.

The status of Florida’s signal caller remains the hot topic and if he can’t go then John Brantley will be under center.

Not only will the battle between the Tigers and Gators be a Prime Time CBS telecast at 7 p.m., but ESPN’s College GameDay will also air live from the LSU campus on Saturday morning.

TigerSportsDigest.com will have all of your coverage leading up to the Battle on the Bayou, and here is a quick look at how the two teams stack up heading into Saturday’s tilt.
