Pittman pulls surprise, picks Tigers

Reserve-East St. John defensive end Kirston Pittman gave the LSU Tigers a huge pickup when he signed with the Tigers over Florida State, Miami, Michigan and others.

East St. John head coach Larry Dauterive tells Tiger Rag's Sonny Shipp that he has just faxed in Kirston Pittman's letter of intent to LSU. Just earlier this week, it was reported that Pittman was down to Texas and Miami but Pittman's weekend visit to LSU was apparently enough to sway him to the Tigers.

Pittman (6-3, 235), who played a number of positions on defense during his senior season, finished 2002 with 43 tackles. He also blocked four punts and three field goals, and he returned an interception for a touchdown.
