Bowe opts for LSU over Miami

LSU won't know until later today if it will get a commitment from one of the nation's top high school quarterbacks, but the Tigers will have some quality receivers to complement their passers.

Dwayne Bowe of Miami-Norland is expected to add his name to head coach Nick Saban's signing class for 2003.

Jamie Newberg, national recruiting analyst for Network, has confirmed that Bowe will send his national letter of intent to LSU today. Bowe had been considering the Tigers and the University of Miami, but he chose the Tigers following his visit to Baton Rouge last weekend.

Bowe's former Norland teammate, offensive lineman Terrell McGill, was his host for the weekend, and Bowe had a chance to play flag football with another prized recruit - quarterback JaMarcus Russell of Mobile, Ala. According to a report in the Miami Herald yesterday, Russell was impressed with Bowe on film and told him they could win a national championship together if they played at the same college.

LSU also has letters of intent from wide receivers Anthony "Amp" Hill of Jacksonville, Fla., and Craig Davis of New Orleans.

Russell is expected to announce his decision later today with Newberg on the Fox Sports Network.
