Junior Day can be quite hectic as coaches and prospects are scrambling all over the place trying to fit in a full day’s worth of activities in just half the day.
No one knows that better than Covington (La.) St. Paul’s defensive tackle Mickey Johnson.
When TigerSportsDigest.com spoke with Johnson on Saturday after he attended LSU Junior Day he was under the impression that he did not have a scholarship offer from the Tigers.
That confusion was cleared up on Monday when he spoke with head coach Les Miles.
“Coach Miles called coach (Ken) Sears (St. Paul’s head coach) and when I called Coach Miles back he told me that I had an offer,” Johnson said. “He actually offered me on Saturday but some other people came up and we didn’t get to finish our conversation.”
Johnson, who was in on 49 tackles and registered seven sacks and 22 quarterback hurries as a junior, now has offers from the Tigers along with Mississippi State, Tulsa and Tulane.
Shortly after junior day on Saturday the standout defensive tackle told TigerSportsDigest.com, “If they (LSU) would have offered, I think I would have considered committing.”
Now that Johnson has the offer what is his take on where things stand?
“I’m going to talk to my parents and then go from there,” he said.
