On his senior season at West Monroe….. “To go out and win like that and class-wise like I’m doing now, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.”

Allen was a leader on the team….. “I tried to lead by example. I would tell my teammates how well they did before and after games and I was just a team player. I was voted for the year as the team captain and that made me feel really good to be recognized like that by everyone.”

On injuries….. “They came and went. My turf toe is really what stuck with me. I dealt with that since the first round of the playoffs until recently when it finally went away. Now running and making cuts is a lot easier.”

The recruiting process….. “It was very entertaining and interesting. I didn’t think it would happen to me and it was a really good experience.”

On choosing LSU….. “I chose LSU because it felt like home away from home and one day I’m sure it’ll be just home. It is a great place to be at and there is no other place like it.”

Allen’s other choices….. “I considered Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Nebraska because most of those schools were in the SEC and I like Coach Bo Pelini.”

On his favorite thing about LSU….. “Just the games on Saturday’s. You can’t beat going to a game in Death Valley.”

Moving up to Baton Rouge….. “I think it’s June 4th or 5th.”

On his roommates….. “I’ll be rooming with Travis Dickson, Cameron Fordham and D.J. Welter.”

How the off-season workouts are going….. “I’ve been doing the workout they gave me. The conditioning workouts are more on field than in the weight room and so I think that is what I’ve improved in the most. I’ve been running a lot of 110’s and agility cone drills.”

Allen’s academic status….. “I’ve been taking some college courses and haven’t been below a 3.5 G.P.A the whole year. I made a 21 on my ACT and stopped there.”

Jersey number….. “I want No. 99, but I’m going to have to talk Sam (Montgomery) into giving it to me. I might have to take him out to eat or something.”

Expectations of playing time….. “I’m willing to play whenever they need me. I know they are going to have a strong defense this year so they might not need me to play and I wouldn’t mind because I could use the year for growing and utilizing the weight training offered by Coach Moffitt.”

Hidden talent of Allen….. “I threw the discus 161 feet which is the farthest throw in the state this year. Someone won state last year with a throw of 155 feet. The record at my school is 175 feet which I have already done in warm ups, I just can’t seem to get it during meets.”

Favorite food….. “Any kind of sushi in general. I like all kinds.”

Favorite Movie….. “The Longest Yard because it is full of football and comedy.”

On being a sports fan….. “I do like watching football. I also used to watch baseball until I stopped playing and recently I just started watching basketball more. I also like keeping up with golf because I like to play when I can.”

Allen looks up to….. “Jared Allen (Minnesota Vikings). He looks how I want to look on the field and with his charisma you can’t help but like him. I aspire to be as good as him if possible.”

Wants to tell LSU fans….. “I’m going to come down there and do my best. I’m going to play wide-open every play not just for me and the team, but for the state and for the college.”
