Gymnastics closes home schedule

The 14th-ranked LSU gymnastics team closes out its 2003 home schedule against fifth-ranked Georgia Friday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.<br><br>Competition is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Cox Sports will be broadcasting the meet on tape delay basis. The meet is
scheduled to air on Tuesday, March 11 at 8 p.m.

LSU (8-5, 2-3 SEC) is coming a off a dominating 196.700-193.475 win over
Arkansas last Friday. The Tigers' season-best 196.700 effort and was
headlined by a school record tying 49.475 performance on the balance beam.

Individually, the Tigers swept the meet's honors, bringing home gold on each of the four events. Sophomore Lauren Companioni led the way for LSU winning the floor title outright and sharing the beam crown with teammates Megan Durning and Terin Martinjak. Brooke Cazeaux and Annie Gagnon were named co-champions on the bars, while Rikki L'Heureux won the vault title.

No. 5 Georgia (13-1, 5-0 SEC) enters the meet having extended its winning
streak to 13 straight opponents after defeating conference foe Florida,
197.725-195.825, a week ago. The Gym Dog's only loss of the year came in
their season-opener against No. 4 Nebraska.

Georgia has been led by a trip of all-arounders in Chelsa Byrd, Cory Fritzinger and Kinsey Rowe who are all averaging scores of 39.300 or better.

Following LSU's meet with Georgia, the Tigers will travel to Salt Lake City
to take on sixth-ranked Utah Friday, March 14 at the Huntsman Center.
