Tigers Offer Florida DB

The LSU coaches hosted St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) offensive tackle Bobby Hart last week. In hopes of pulling in a pair of Fort Lauderdale prospects, the Tigers followed up Hart's offer with one to teammate Marcus Roberson.

Marcus Roberson, one of the top defensive backs in an always talent-stacked Sunshine State, has maintained that Florida leads for his services, though the likes of Miami, Notre Dame and Oklahoma have all offered.

“I’m not in any rush to make a decision, because I still need to visit some places,” Roberson said. “Right now I’m just trying to meet all the different coaches.”

Roberson’s most recent offer, which came last week from the Tigers, has Les Miles hoping that LSU can work into the mix during one of the late stages in the game.

“I just heard about the offer the other day, so it’s still fresh for me,” Roberson said. “Bobby Hart was over there this past week and he said he really liked it. He had a meeting with the coaches and they mentioned me. They told him I had a scholarship waiting on me and that I should call them up.

“It’s an offer from a school that I’m definitely ready to find out more about.”

While the 6-foot, 175-pound defensive back has only camped at Miami, he has made trips to the major in-state programs as well as Wake Forest. Among his planned visits are Georgia, Oklahoma and LSU.

“I’m wanting to see what the campus and atmosphere is all about,” said Roberson of Baton Rouge. “I don’t know too much right now. When I get there on my visit I should be able to know if I can fit in there or not.”

With nearly 20 scholarship offers, Roberson plans to delay his decision until National Signing Day next February.
