Friday Afternoon Practice Report

On a day that saw double-digit players miss practice, starting linebacker Ryan Baker was the headline name absent from the bunch. Go inside for TigerSportsDigest.com's recap from Friday afternoon's practice.

The Tigers worked indoors for the second time Friday, and camp has certainly ratcheted up a notch as the injury bug has begun to bite.

Here is a list of player who missed practice:

Ryan Baker, J.C. Copeland, Josh Downs, Luke Muncie, Karnell Hatcher, Jakhari Gore, Brandon Worle, Nic Jacobs, Matt Branch, Bennie Logan, Josh Williford and Chase Clement.

Sources say Baker broke his jaw in the morning camp session.

Tyler Edwards practiced in a green jersey.

For those that were there, it was practice as usual.

The quarterbacks and receivers worked on double moves. Jordan Jefferson threw a very nice deep ball all afternoon. The receivers didn’t often have to break stride. Jarrett Lee was good as well. For the first time this fall I could see the difference between the veteran arms and that of Zach Lee. One thing that really stood out was that Lee came up a bit short on some of his deep throws. The route was a five-yard out and up, and his balls tended to lead the receivers back toward the middle of the field a bit.

One again, Russell Shepard made the play of the day. He hauled in an absurd one-handed leaping grab that had the by-standers chatting for a bit. Armand Williams also made a nice catch on a deep ball.

The quarterbacks then worked with the running backs on handoff exchanges. Jarrett Lee and Stevan Ridley put one on the turf, but the drill ran as smoothly as you might expect from then on.

The linebackers worked on pass coverage. In the absence of Ryan Baker, Lamin Barrow worked with the first group.

Coach Miles will address the media at 6 p.m. Friday. Check back for a recap from the headman.
