The Tigers practiced indoors for the morning session on Tuesday. Here are your Big Cat results:
Bennie Logan threw Josh Williford to the ground.
Justin Maclin and Tyler Edwards were involved in the biggest collision of the drill. The result was a virtual tie.
Kellen Theriot won a battle with Luke Muncie.
Alfred Blue dominated Tahj Jones.
James Wright quickly pushed back Drayton Calhoun.
The most notable absences at practice Tuesday – outside of Zach Lee – were Russell Shepard, P.J. Lonergan and Karnell Hatcher. Cornerback Morris Claiborne left practice with a trainer as the session began. Defensive end Ken Adams wore a green jersey and worked with the second team at defensive end. Chancey Aghayere moved up into the first-team slot, joined on the opposite side by Sam Montgomery and in the middle by Drake Nevis and Pep Levingston. Chris Tolliver returned to practice after missing Monday morning’s session.
The quarterbacks looked sharp on some underneath routes. Jarrett Fobbs had some trouble with drops, but the receivers as a whole were pretty good. Sam Gibson was back with the wide outs, and Jakhari Gore worked with the wide outs as well before joining the running backs later in the workout.
After the morning passing session, the receivers worked on open field blocking. Coach Billy Gonzalez really loves his guys creating some contact. He praised Rueben Randle’s physicality, and he even made a point to shake freshman Kadron Boone’s hand after an impressive effort. In terms of guys who can get after it, Gore showed some impressive strength for a player listed at 5-foot-9.
The tight ends got some work running corner routes after they concluded their daily work on the sleds. Deangelo Peterson looked smooth in his route running, and Chase Clement hauled in a couple of nice catches. Clement struggled with drops early in camp, so today was a nice go for the former defensive end.
Les Miles will meet with the media after practice. Check back with TigerSportsDigest.com for more.
